Nicolaiano Museum was inaugurated in 2010 in the premises where the Ospizio dei Pellegrini was previously located. It collects all the historical and artistic relics related to the history of the Basilica and the secular cult of St. Nicholas, from the Treasure of St. Nicholas, as well as numerous documents from the valuable Nicolaian Archives, which bear witness to milestones in the history of the Basilica and the city.

The Museum is divided into three main rooms. On the ground floor is the “Hall of liturgical life”, a large hall on the ground floor dedicated to the life of the Church. The room contains mainly sacred icons and decorated glass bottles, which contain the manna of St. Nicholas, as well as a valuable collection of objects related to the Orthodox confession, further evidence of the ecumenism of the Nicolaian cult.

There is a small “intermediate room”, called the Room of Antiquities, dedicated to the oldest sculptures and objects from the Roman or medieval period.

The upper room, dedicated to the Middle Ages, houses historical findings of immense value and international fame, mainly from the Norman and Angevin periods.
